VMI Community Updates
Institute leadership continues to communicate important information for cadets, their families, faculty & staff, and the VMI community at-large:
- VMI's featured stories explore life on post as well as how VMI's leadership training and commitment to academic, military, and athletic excellence set cadets up for success during and after their time in Lexington.
- The March 2025 Institute Report is now available to view and download, with features including a look back at Breakout, guest speakers, conferences, and impactful faculty research.
- The Superintendent Search Committee, an ad-hoc committee of the VMI Board of Visitors, will hold a meeting on Monday, April 7, 2025, beginning at 2 p.m. VMI business will be discussed by three or more Board of Visitors members. More details, including an agenda, are available on the BOV upcoming meetings page.
- The Virginia Military Institute Board of Visitors will meet May 1 – 3, 2025, at various times according to the schedule posted on the VMI website. Virginia Military Institute business will be discussed by the board members in attendance. The meeting is open to the public. - Parking Changes - VDOT has begun a Route 11 bicycle lane construction project, creating a permanent removal of parking spaces along either side of Main Street (Route 11) in front of VMI facilities from Massie Street to Hook Lane (the Aquatic Center to Cormack Hall). More information and a downloadable map are available.
- Building Access - Due to safety and security enhancements, a VMI-issued ID card is now required for entry to Cameron Hall, effective immediately. This new protocol will not affect access to the ticketing office.

Maj. Alison Burke, assistant professor in the Department of Biology at Virginia Military Institute, will discuss a cholera-like bacteria found in warm waters that lives and spreads in oysters, on the public radio program, “With Good Reason,” April 5-11.
Cameron Hall To Require VMI ID For Entry
As the safety and security enhancements for the VMI community continue, please be advised that effective immediately, a VMI issued ID card is now required for entry to Cameron Hall.
